Edfu Temple, Kom Ombo Temple – Cruise to Aswan -
After breakfast we travel again with our own dedicated Egyptologist and bus to Edfu Temple known as the Temple of Horus, one of the most important gods. In the Egyptian trinity, Horus, the son of Isis, and Osiris, was magically conceived and birthed in secret when Seth, (the jealous brother of Osiris) wanted to kill all newborn baby boys. Horus eventually becomes the protector god who fights evil and represents righteousness and justice. Until the 1860’s, Edfu Temple was completely covered underneath the sand. We then cruise to Kom Ombo, the only temple dedicated to two gods: the local crocodile god, Sobek, and Horus, the falcon god. We learn how the many gods and goddesses of Egypt were manifestations of the attributes of the one creator God. We then cruise to Aswan, the frontier town of ancient Egypt, about 426 miles south of Cairo.
