playfulness in your work

“We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything, than when we are at play.”  True words by Dr. Charles Schaefer, American psychologist and “Father of Play Therapy.”

These young men took business to a whole new level of fun, joy and prosperity.  Work was play!

They would pull alongside the Nile cruise ships, tie their boats to the ship and start selling their wares as interested tourists looked down from the upper deck.  While showing off their products, they would yell out compliments to the passengers. Before we knew it, wadded balls of merchandise stuffed in plastic bags would be hurled onto the deck.

Folks tried on dresses with heavily ornamented images of Cleopatra and unfolded table clothes with ancient symbols of lotus flowers or palm trees. They bartered or asked for different colors, and when all was right, would hurl the plastic bag back onto the boat with the agreed upon cash and any unwanted merchandise.

I have more Egyptian blingy dresses than I need, but each time it is such joy to play with these ingenious merchants!

Wishing you playfulness in your work.
